Mollie Macdonald
BA (Hons) English Language and Linguistics, 2017-2020
Current role
Before I graduated, I was successful in applying for a job with the NHS as a paediatric, speech and language therapy, support practitioner. This meant that when I graduated, I was settled into my new job and familiar with the service.
My job role entails; working within special schools, leading sessions, preventing fleeting attention or teaching children how to order sentences, as well as supporting children in their articulation of speech.
How my course benefited me
Through having studied phonetics and how language is learnt, I have the advantage of understanding some of the clinical approaches and terms that are used within my job role. My course required me to deliver many presentations over the years, which helped me to build my confidence, massively. If I had not studied English language and linguistics, I would not have be as equipped for my job as I was.
Campus life
The 91快色offers great facilities, where you can study in a range of settings. There are many computers and printers available and the cafeteria supply a great range of snacks and meals. I found the 91快色shuttle bus, a great help for all three years of my studies.
What I most enjoyed about my degree and studying at the 91快色
Through my time at 91快色I was able to find my passion for Speech and Language therapy but the best times I had, were spending time with friends, supporting each other through our degree. I am reminded of the funny memories found within many of our lectures.
My future aspirations
Looking ahead, I would like to study a Master鈥檚 in speech and language therapy.
My top tips for current students
Don鈥檛 be afraid to socialise, I couldn鈥檛 have done it on my own. Don鈥檛 overthink it.
